Chinese Language Learning Program
I. Long-term Program
1. Introduction:
Long-term programs (more than one semester) focus on Chinese language learning and culture experiences. Each semester, the School of International Education of SWJTU provides various Chinese language courses and cultural courses to international students with different levels of Chinese. The main courses include intensive reading, extensive reading, listening, speaking, writing, characters and so on. Students will be allocated to appropriate levels according to the results of test on arrival. Experienced teaching staff and small class size ensure the most efficient teaching and learning.
2. Course Details
Open Time: Fall and Spring Semesters every year
Duration: ≥ 1 semester
Program Location: Emei Campus, SWJTU
Application Time: March - June for Fall Semesters
December - next February for Spring Semesters
Fees:
a. Registration: 400 RMB/person
b. Insurance: 800 RMB/person/year
c. Tuition: 5,500 RBM/person/half year; 11,000 RMB/person/year
d. Accommodation fee: 650 RMB/month/person (a single room in a two-bedroom apartment on Emei campus with a sitting room, a kitchen, a bathroom, TV set, air-conditioning and furniture; exclude electricity and water fee)
Note: Once the class starts, all fees are not refundable; 1 US dollar equals approximately to 7 RMB.
3. Application Process

b. Click "Apply Online" - "Apply" - "Language Program"
c. Complete application by filling in relevant options
4. Application Materials
a. Notarized academic certificate. Please provide notarized translation if the documents are not in English or Chinese.
b. Academic Records. Please provide notarized translation if the documents are not in English or Chinese.
c. A copy of the first page, visa page(if applicable) and the entry stamp page(if applicable) of the applicant’s passport. Please ensure the passport is valid for 6 month at least before your visa application.
d. A copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Please keep the original by yourself. The form is issued by China's health inspection department.You can go to the website of China Scholarship Council http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina to fill in the form in English. Applicants must take the examinations exactly in accordance with the stipulations in this form. The form is not valid if any of the following things is missing: form page(s); ID photo; cross-page seal; signature of the doctor; seal of the hospital. The result is valid for 6 months;
e. Financial guarantee Letter of guarantee (in RMB or USD) issued by the bank and authorized by the Chinese embassy or consulate. It must cover the tuition fees of at least one year.
f. HSK certificate and supporting materials.
g. Applicants under the age of 18 shall submit relevant legal documents of his/her entrusted legal guardians in China.
h. For applicants who are already in China, please provide the graduation certificate/diploma, transcript and attendance, study certificate or performance letter from the last or current university.
i. If you have Chinese learning history, please state your current Chinese level or provide relevant certificates.
II. Short-term Programs
1. Introduction
Short-term programs provide language learning of 1 week to 5 weeks. The School of International Education of SWJTU provides various short-term programs upon learner’s demands. We warmly welcome universities and groups from all over the world to get in touch with us so that we can provide customized solutions to meet your needs.
2. Project Type
A. Chinese Language Learning and Culture Experiences Program
This kind of program can be highly customized. Besides usual school time, summer and winter schools are also available from July to August and January to February every year. The programs mainly focus on Chinese Communication. Participants will have rigorous training in Chinese language and culture. Lessons of Chinese painting, calligraphy, Chinese folk songs, Tai Chi, Chinese paper cutting and cooking will also be offered. Trips to visit famous cultural sights and scenery spots will be arranged during weekends.

Duration: 1 week to 5 weeks
Program Location: Emei and Chengdu Campus, SWJTU
Application Time: Depending on program
Fees:
a. Registration: 400 RMB/person
b. Insurance: 160 RMB/person/month, 240 RMB/person/2 months
c. Tuition: 900—2,000 RMB/person/week (Depending on group size and customer demands)
d. Travel expenses: Depending on traveling plan
e. Other miscellaneous cost: around 100 RMB
f. Accommodation fee: 100 RMB/day/person (a single room in a two- or three-bedroom apartment, excluding electricity and water fee)

B. Engineering Education and Internship Program
SWJTU is a leading university in China in fields of transportation industry, railway engineering and economics & management. As an important part of SWJTU Summer Program, the engineering internship program provides a contextual learning environment that validates a curriculum of study and networks of certain Chinese industries for students’ future career development. Program Location: Emei and Chengdu Campus, SWJTU
Duration: 2 weeks to 6 weeks
Application Time: December - April
Fees:
a. Registration: 400 RMB/person
b. Insurance: 160 RMB/person/month, 240 RMB/person/2 months
c. Training Fee: 900—8,000 RMB/person/week (Depending on group size and customer demands)
d. Internship uniform: 300 RMB
e. Other miscellaneous cost: around 100 RMB
f. Interpretation: 200 RMB/person (for the factory interpretation every day)
g. Travel expenses: Depending on traveling plan
h. Accommodation fee: 100 RMB/day/person (a single room in a two- or three-bedroom apartment, excluding electricity and water fee)

Chinese Culture Courses Available: Chinese Culture, Chinese History, Chinese Geography, Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Tai Chi, Chinese Folk Songs, Chinese Paper Cutting, Chinese Knot, Chinese Cooking, etc.
Culture Experiencing Activities Available: Visit Leshan Giant Buddha, Visit Emei Mountain, Visit Panda Breeding Base, Visit Dujingyan Irrigation System & Qingcheng Mountain, Visit Jinsha Museum, Watch the Sichuan Opera, etc.
