Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program
The CSC Bilateral Program accords with the cooperation and exchange agreements or consensus reached by the Chinese government and the governments and institutions of other nations. It is open to undergraduates, postgraduates, general and senior scholars.


I. Application Information

Where to apply: Please consult the Chinese Embassies and Consulates in your country for application information. For the contacts, please visit the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

When to apply: The application time is usually from November to early April of next year (varied from country to country). Please consult the dispatching authorities (the Chinese Embassies and Consulates in your country) for the specific application deadline.


II. Information of CSC Bilateral Program

1. Supporting Categories: The Bilateral Program supports undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholars and senior scholars. Please consult the dispatching authorities of your home country for the available categories.

2. Instruction Language: English/Chinese

3. Duration: The scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory study).


III. Eligibility

1. Applicants shall be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China and in good health both mentally and physically.

2. Education background and age limit:

(1) Applicants for undergraduate program shall be an academically excellent holder of high school diploma or its equivalent under the age of 25.

(2) Applicants for master’s program shall be an academically excellent holder of a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 35.

(3) Applicants for doctoral program shall be an academically excellent holder of a master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40.

(4) Applicants for general scholar program shall be a holder of a high school diploma (or higher) under the age of 45.

(5) Applicants for senior scholar program shall be a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50.

V. Application Process

1. Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for CGS opportunity.

2. Apply to SWJTU for the pre-admission letter once recommended by the dispatching authorities as an eligible candidate (please send email to iso@swjtu.edu.cn with all your application documents for the pre-admission letter. The email title should be Application for Pre-Admission Letter of CSC Bilateral Program. The university will do the preliminary and academic review for the applicant).

3. Complete the online application at CGS Information Management System for International Students (http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or http://www.campuschina.org). You should consult the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for Instructions of CGS Information Management System for International Students. The Agency Number of SWJTU is 10613.

4. Submit all your application documents to the dispatching authorities of your home country before the deadline.

NOTE: Only applications of recommended candidates from dispatching authorities will be considered.


VI. Application Documents

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English)

2. Copy of Passport Home Page

If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning the passport expires before September 2024), please apply for a new passport before submitting the application.

3. Notarized Highest Diploma

Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

4. Notarized Academic Transcripts

Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

5. A Study Plan Proposal

A study plan written in Chinese or English shall contain more than 800 characters or words.

6. Recommendation Letters

Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted.

7. A Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant)

The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months (download here).

8. Non-Criminal Record Report

The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.

9. Language Proficiency Certificates (if any)

10. Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China.

11. Example of Art

To apply for majors related to art or design, applicants should submit their own works through ‘Example of Art/Other Supporting Documents’.

NOTE:

All uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use professional device to scan relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded documents.
